Jonathan Monk

With a mixture of wit and mockery, Monk revisits and reinterprets artworks, often even ironically appropriating elements of his own work as he did in Exhibit Model One at Kunsthaus Baselland. This show was the first of an ongoing series of shows which are made up of images of some of Monk’s previous exhibitions. These exhibitions are explorations into the conditions, possibilities and limitations that are linked with making an exhibition as well as the conditions under which we view art today—via digital media, exhibition catalogues or moving swiftly through installations of work.
