If There Had Been a Pool it Would Have Reflected Us

Jim Hodges, If There Had Been a Pool it Would Have Reflected Us, Alternate Projects

Description

Jim Hodges' work often blurs the lines of an objects intended function and meaning. In this blanket, the turquoise blue and tan colors intimate an imaginary landscape. Hodges’ poem, “If There Had Been A Pool It Would Have Reflected Us,” is woven on one side as normal text and in reverse on the other side as way of suggesting the words as reflections in water. The blanket’s measurements equal the exact size of Hodges’ bed.

In 1988, the Norton Family Christmas Project began commissioning artists to create original, multiple-edition works that were mailed as holiday greetings to friends, colleagues, and selected institutions.
