Description

This is no. 29 out of a portfolio of 10 original lithograph, edition of 81. For the portfolio, Oppenheim brought together photos, maps and documents to recount conceptual Land Art works created between the years 1968 to 1972.

Dennis Oppenheim (1938-2011) was an American conceptual artist who consistently pushed boundaries from conceptual, earth, body, installation to large-scale permanent public sculpture. In the late 1960s, he became known for simply designating parts of the urban landscape as artworks and for his temporary outdoor sculptures which soon came to be defined as Land Art or earthworks. Oppenheim would create these works by drawing on ice, ploughing fields, making trails in the snow, among many other environmental interventions, and he would use photography and cinematographic film to preserve a record of them.
