Color photograph of the artwork Mur de Barils, realized by Christo and Jean-Claude in1962. For this installation, Christo and Jeanne-Claude closed the Rue Visconti in Paris, with 89 barrels of oil. The Rue Visconti is one of the narrowest streets in Paris and their “barrels wall” completely blocked the street to traffic and cut off all means of communication between Rue Bonaparte and Rue de Seine. This photograph is an original work aside from the edition of 100, SIGNED “Christo” and dated “1962” on the backside. Given as a gift from the artists to John Gibson. Title, date and locale written in pencil on the backside.
